Influenza Rapid Test
quick result in less than approximately 15 minutes
Service Description
Influenza Rapid Test are immunoassays that can identify the presence of influenza A and B viral nucleoprotein antigens in respiratory specimens, and display the result in a qualitative way (positive vs. negative) How is the test performed? A rapid influenza diagnostic test (RIDT) is a simple and quick procedure. 1. Sample Collection: -The doctor will collect a sample of secretions from your nose using a nasal swab. -The swab is gently inserted into the nostril or the back of the throat to collect the sample 2. Test Procedure: -The collected sample is then processed using the rapid influenza diagnostic test kit. -The swab is inserted into a tube or cartridge containing reagents that can detect influenza viral antigens 3. Result Interpretation: -The test kit will provide a visual, color-coded result or display the result on a small device that analyzes the sample -A positive result indicates the presence of influenza viral antigens, while a negative result suggests that influenza viral antigens were not detected It's important to note that rapid influenza diagnostic tests have moderate sensitivity and specificity, and false negative results can occur, especially if the test is performed too early in the course of the illness or if the virus strain is not well-matched to the test Therefore, it's essential to consider the clinical symptoms and consult with a doctor for a comprehensive diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
