Dengue Rapid Test
Service Description
Dengue Rapid Test performs qualitative analysis on NS1 antigens of Dengue virus and Dengue virus specific IgM/IgG in serum, plasma and whole blood. The test is performed by collecting a blood sample from the patient and applying it to a rapid test device. NS1 antigen and antibody tests are two different types of diagnostic tests used to detect dengue virus infection. NS1 antigen test: -Detects the non-structural protein NS1 of the dengue virus. -Most sensitive during the first 0-7 days of symptoms. -Can confirm dengue virus infection without providing serotype information. -Typically performed using synthetically labeled antibodies to detect dengue NS1 protein. -Not recommended after day 7 of symptoms. Antibody test: -Detects immunoglobulin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against the dengue virus. -Useful for determining if a person has been previously exposed to the dengue virus and has developed antibodies. -May not be as accurate for diagnosing acute dengue infections compared to tests that detect the NS1 antigen. -Timing of the test is crucial, as it is most effective when performed several days after the onset of symptoms.
